Vespa Rally in Genoa

image

A few Saturdays ago, there was a Vespa Rally in Genoa organised by a non-profit, non-governmental organisation known as Music For Peace. I should so have them linked here but typing from my mobile does make searches on the internet a little cumbersome but I think they really deserve some recognition for a job well done. They emphasized the fact that they are non governmental so that they can go where they are needed and not bound by government policies or alliances.

Not only do they ship or truck their aid over to where it is needed. They deliver everything themselves, door to door, which ensures it goes directly to the intended person and not disappearing as they sometimes do. On top of that, they help the city feed the poor. Especially those that have been refered to them by the government. I asked them why only those refered and they replied that they want to help those really in need as the have limited resources. Everything they have is strictly by donation so they want to give it to the person or families who needs it the most.

This rally was organised to bring in more donations and to raise the awareness of their organisation as they prepare for another aid trip to next war torn country. To bring in the crowd, they teamed up with the local Vespa Club to hold a 2 day Vespa Rally with loads of music, food and beers.

Many Vespa lovers came from far and wide. Some rode from as far as the Netherlands, Brussels on their vespas to join this Rally. It was really quite a sight! There were French, Germans, Austrians…

Above was my pimped out vespa for the rally. Just a 50cc one that M decorated with the Malaysian flags in the form of beautiful butterflies and a “I β™₯ Malaysia” sticker complete with an Asian looking girl! Ah…I am loved!! He has since pasted another one of this stickers on my daily ride. My Vespa SS300.

I must say that it was organised very well. Even with so many people, order was maintained and cleanliness was tip-top. 2 full days from 10am to 1am on Saturday and till 11pm on Sunday. Even with booze and 2 stages of live music there was no trouble.

Our ride too was well organised and very picturesque. We even got to ride through the historic centre where it is usually off limits even to residents in the historic centre!

All in all a very good 2 days! I had fun! πŸ™‚
By the way, I was the only Malaysian in the rally and M signed me up for a friendly competition too. Which I didn’t win. πŸ˜›

Will be boarding soon for Singapore. Lets see how Air France fares on this trip to Asia. I have taken them to the US. Though we didn’t have a good start. Our first flight out of Genoa was delayed for nearly 2 hours. Luckily our next flight was initially 4 hours after landing in Paris. We made it with nearly 2 hours to spare.

Fingers crossed no more problems. I have another flight to catch in Singapore. Wish me luck!

Toodeloos everyone!

Dropped off the face of the earth…..

Okay…just being all dramatic and shit.. but it does feel like it. πŸ˜›

It has been a while since I blogged and if anyone is still sticking around and stalking, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

A few things have happened and I have been busy juggling personal and professional life. Though I have to admit, I could just post updates on Life in Photos as I do on Instagram. I just never do.

All these things that are happening, some I want to talk about and some I don’t. “Don’t” filling up an entire page while “do” is still…you get the picture. Some are not even my story to share.

While I figure out what I want to write about, I thought I should just day hello here before you all leave my blog and move on to greener pastures. πŸ™‚

Should I say ” I will be back!”?

oh, so corny!

I will gather my wits about me and be back soon. I am presently very tired and in need of a good long rest period of doing absolutely nothing! Which is not happening.

Till then…toodeloos!!

My first ever…

It is my first time being home for the Malaysian General Elections 2013 after leaving the country 16 years ago. Also the first time for me where the elections actually have any meaning to me.

Previously when I left, I was too young to vote. I was also not bothered with politics and I didn’t understand it. As I get older, I can understand better what politics is all about.

With all the recent posts on different online social platforms, it all looks so interesting and it is very nail bitingly exciting waiting for the results.

Are we guilty?

I was watching this crime drama series and after one of their episodes this thought sprung to mind. I had goosebumps and chillsΒ  throughout the entire hour of that particular episode. When it finished, it got me thinking, are we guilty? I think we might all be guilty of it in some point of time in our lives. What am I talking about?

Well, this episode was about a girl who was murdered right on a busy street in the city. A crazed knife-wielding man who she didn’t know decided that on that day, he was going to kill her. She was just a random person the man picked up from the crowd. They were surround by onlookers who did nothing, watched in horror, and some even just walked right on by. She grabbed a bank teller whom she was just talking to earlier on while she opened an account to help her. The teller earlier, realising that the girl left her bank book behind, went after the girl to give it back. The girl keep saying, “help me! I don’t know this man! Help me!” She even grabbed on to the teller. All the teller did was to push away her hand and say, “let go of me! go away!” while the man ,kicked the girl and grabbed her hair violently. Another man just walked right by her to his car and put his golf bag in the boot and stared while he pulled her along by her hair, throwing her to the ground and dragged her and eventually stabbed her to death. All this was recorded on a cellphone by a barista from a nearby cafe. No one helped. Never mind that, not even one of them was seen calling the police or for any kind of help. ThisΒ  entire scene alone got a chill down my spine. IiImagined if it was me or someone I cared about. Totally a scary thought!! @_@

The story starts with bodies found to be shot through the chest with an arrow their hands tied in front of them. Their eardrums ruptured and their eyes covered by rope tied around their head. They all died of exsanguination. In the end, it was the father of the murdered girl taking revenge on those who stood around and did nothing to help his little girl. Do they deserve it? Now that is the debate here.

What would you do in that situation? Though I was shocked (I know it is only a show and it is not real) that no one even tried to do anything, I asked myself if I was ever in that situation, what would I have done? Would I have done any differently from all those in that scene? Would I really have done anything at all? I will never know what I would do until I am faced with that situation. But hopefully I would never have to face that decision, ever!

I can’t speak for others but in my opinion, I think though not to this extreme scenario we might all be guilty of looking away and doing nothing at some point in our lives. Hopefully nothing too grave happened from our inaction. I can only hope that I will have courage to do something if need be.

What do you think?

Dancing…

I have always been fascinated with pole dancing. I am too chicken to try it out myself. Maybe some day I will. Now it has become a legitimate sport or form of exercise. I say legitimate only because it those day not even a mere 10 years ago, it had a whole different connotation. So I follow a blogger called Kim quite by chance actually. It was because I was following the Olympics and her husband is on our Malaysian cycling team. Being away from home for so many years I am quite behind in a lot of local news. Since I was always interested in pole dancing, (so far only watching :P) her foray into pole dancing caught my attention. While recently trying to catch up on all the blogs that I follow, I saw this on her blog.

I never knew that Malaysia had a male pole dancing of quite an international reputation too! The man has some moves! πŸ™‚ He has added even more flavour to my enjoyment of pole dancing!

Just wanted to blog about this. πŸ™‚
